Did you know that all EEA nationals (except Irish citizens), and international doctors, require a Skilled Worker Visa to work in the UK? This means that if a practice wants to recruit a GP from outside the UK and Ireland, you most likely will need to become a Visa Sponsor.
There are an increasing number of doctors in this category enquiring about working as GPs in NI. We are delighted to also have an increasing number of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) completing their GP Specialty training in Northern Ireland. If your practice plans to employ a newly qualified GP who needs a Visa, you must apply to become a UK visa sponsoring practice. This needs to be done ideally a few months before the training is complete.
This webinar will provide a “walk through the Visa sponsorship process” and practices who have already become sponsors will share their tips.
We will also have an update from the Lead for the GP Improvement and Crisis response team (GPICRT) on the learning from their work supporting practices
