CCG for ‘Request for Advice’ to the LIPID Service Belfast Trust
From the 31st August 2021, there will be a new option within CCG for ‘Request for Advice’ to the LIPID Service under both Belfast City Hospital and Royal Victoria Hospital destinations.
The Lipid team in Belfast Health and Social Care Trust have introduced a “Request for advice” function.
The aim is to provide timely advice for lipid-related queries which do not necessarily require an outpatient appointment. This can be used for either new patients within the historical Belfast Trust area or patients who already attend RVH or BCH lipid clinic, and we aim to respond to these within 5 working days.
“Request for advice” can be used for straightforward queries about starting, switching or up titrating treatment, medication intolerance, suitability for PCSK9 inhibitors etc.
More complex cases e.g. severe mixed hyperlipidaemia, suspected familial hypercholesterolaemia, commencement of PCSK9 inhibitors or anybody who will require face-to-face discussion, should still be referred to Outpatients via the usual pathway
